9:09 a.m.

The day I became a dad...again.

My second son was born on April 25, 2023 at 9:09 a.m. EST. He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long.

This labor and birth couldn’t have been more different than our first. My wife was pretty sure that she was experiencing early labor the night before, so we went to bed early hoping to get some solid sleep. We were awoken at 3:30 a.m. by my son crying (which it turns out, was because he had a fever of 102.5°F) and my wife said she was having contractions, but they were still 10+ minutes apart. We gave our son some acetaminophen and got him back to sleep.

Around 7 a.m. she woke me up and said that I should probably get some coffee and get things ready as the contractions were now ~7 minutes apart. By the time I got things together, I saw her have a contraction that she couldn’t talk through and it was reminiscent of the first time she was in labor – I knew then that we needed to get to the hospital. My mother-in-law showed up shortly before 8 a.m., we arrived at the hospital around 8:15 a.m., and our second son was born at 9:09 a.m.

Everything happened incredibly fast, but it all went exceptionally well and both baby and Momma are healthy and doing great!
